Behind the scenes: What I've been building this January

I'm currently between client projects, which gives me the opportunity to focus on strengthening my business operations and strategy.

I like a challenge

In January I have been working on being a well-rounded website designer and developer. I am committed to serving my clients first. I added a necessary section to an existing client web project homepage. I then implemented a cookie consent manager to ensure my website's GDPR compliance using google analytics to track metrics. I complete monthly web reports to make sure my website is working as it should. To help other business owners I created free guides. To ensure GDPR compliance I created a Step by Step CookieYes Implementation Guide and a Google Analytics Implementation Guide for anyone to download for free. My goal is to help as many small businesses as possible.

Beyond compliance work, I wanted to test what I could teach myself. I have been wanting to get back to learning. I use Webflow to create the frontend for my websites which creates the HTML and CSS code for me. I decided to implement a payment processing platform, Stripe, into the store page on my website. To do this I needed to code the backend server to host the user authentication and payment processing systems. I am proud to say that my store page is functioning!

Another challenge I tackled was organizing my computer. If you are a tech business owner I am sure you know the constant pain of keeping your computer file system clean. I researched the digital organization system, the PARA method, by Tiago Forte. I spent hours cleaning out the unnecessary files I have collected over the years and modified the method to fit my business and personal files.

I live in Eastern Washington and usually this time of year I would be driving on snowy roads. This year has been unusually dry and warm so I felt inclined to continue my digital spring cleaning. I use Notion to organize everything in my business from analytics to inspiration and tools. I optimized my Notion business admin and all my 70+ tools (yes I counted) that I use to run my business. This January proved that the best investment I can make is in my own growth. Let me know if you need a website designer who's committed to going the extra mile.
